Bark Bark Bark said miss d

I got the cutest Ipod Nano.. in my signature color... ROBIN'S EGG BLUE.
Well, I turned the little thing on this morning and being all thumbs I set the language to Chinese. Lots of symbols and not alot of understanding. Guess I need to learn Chinese or figure out how to get the Ipod reset. Off to apple.com to see if I can find out how.
Miss D got a kitchen... will post pics later. She is loving it.
She also is fighting croup. She started with a fever and a little cough. Now she is so hoarse... but it is so cute. Her little voice is so raspy. It just melts our heart... she is so pitiful. Pray for a quick recovery. I know that she is going to be fine... but those moments when fear creeps in and speak into my ear nasty things...just not cool.
We also have about 7 inches of snow.

I'm loving my White Christmas!
Siting here looking out the window.
With a raspy 2 year old.
And a Chinese I pod.
And snow on the satellite dish and no TV.

I'm loving my White Christmas!
The movie in on the TV downstairs.
Miss D is crying because I won't play "kitchen"
Guess I better go take care of my girl.
I'm Loving my White Christmas.

Colonial Candle Jar No More

I finished up burning my jar candle today and was thinking... what would shannon or beckie do with this nice heavy glass lidded jar. I pondered all day. The thoughts running through my head... what kind of lame attempt could I muster up at being creative. Give me someones house to organize or decorate and I can give a good attempt. I'm a fan of always moving the furniture around and keeping things interesting around the house. But creating something from nothing... that would be a task. I guess I lack the ability to visualize. I would be the kind to go and find something cute to just buy and bring home. Well... feeling inspired to create on my own I went for it.

I had to get the excess wax out of the jar. I put the jar upside down in the oven on a baking sheet lined with foil. I turned on the oven to 350' and sat there and waited. The wax started to drip down the side and I thought... this might actually work. The wheels were turning. What could I put in it???? Gumballs was my first thought. I don't even own any gumballs, let alone eat them. What else? As the wax was dripping my oven was smelling just like the scent of the candle. Balsam Fir... Christmasy of course. I took it out and wondered what do I do with the wax? Pour it in the garbage all drippy? I tried that... it dripped on the side of the pan and all over the garbage. Opps... crafting beginner mistake. I got that cleaned up and then I wondered how do I get the oil residue out of the jar. Windex to the rescue. It kinda worked... along with some dish soap and lots of scrubbing. Then the jar was squeaky clean. Now to the laundry room where my lame craft supply is. 4 little things of craft paint and few pieces of scrapbook paper. I have lots of beads though. I had to work those in somehow. So lots of coats of paint, some mod podge to hold the paper on and some raffia and wallah.. a holder for my cotton balls that I got out of Miss D's old room where they have been since she was a baby. I don't even use cotton balls for much... but they do look cute in there right. I suppose when I get tired of having it on my counter I can use it to hold pens or loose change.

Cookies and Dirty Floors

This was last night. My grandma gave us a batch of star sugar cookies. I HAD to let my girl have just one. We have been cutting majorly back on the sweets lately. I knew it was time when we drove onto the road that my In-Laws live on and she yells from the back seat "fruitsnacks"! There is just something wrong with that. So she has been rationed. But hey it's Christmas Time... I'm sharing a cookie with her. She devoured it! That's my girl... loves her veggies and loves her some sugar! I suppose there is a little bit of me in there somewhere. She sure acts alot like her daddy through.... proceed to next picture.

Miss D was down stairs having her breakfast of choice. I was upstairs checking email...making the bed etc. I heard her say "all done mom" and so this is what I found. If you know my hubby it
won't surprise you. Silly little girl.

I was Christmas shopping the other day and someone asked me if my husband was ... well you may know his name. They asked me because they said that Miss D looked like him and they were just wondering. I had never met this women in my life and they could pin point my husband because of my daughter. How random is that?

Also.. another great statement/story.... I was at a family dinner a few nights ago. Our reservation was at 6:30pm and we arrived there with our party of about 16 or so. The night proceeded as follows...
7pm- drinks were served
7:30pm fondue was served and dinner order taken
8pm- Soup and Salads arrive
8:40pm-Dinner was served
9:40pm- we are headed home.
It was a very long and tiring night... I had to change Miss D's diaper about half way through the night. It was just wet thankfully! It was an old restaurant and there was no changing table in the one stall bathroom! I had to take her diaper off and somehow put it back on while she was standing. Well... not possible. I had to lay her across my knees as I was squatting down. I had heels on my boots, so I was able to balance somewhat. She was inches from the dirty bathroom floor. I was sweating and there was someone waiting in line for the bathroom. And to top the night off... one of my family members(who I hadn't seen in since my weight loss) asked me if I had lost like 200 pounds. It was funny...we all laughed awkwardly. But hey it's cool. I do feel like I have lost that much... all the work it took to lose. I suppose after the 1st of the year it won't be to bad to get the last 10 off.... if I look like I've already lost 200!

Jewelry With Significance

My MIL just launched a blog. Gems By George. She is passionate about making jewelry and the pieces have a deeper meaning. The stones that she chooses are for a purpose. I would recommend a visit to her site. My SIL is the one that gave the blog that cute look. I'm happy to welcome her to the blogging world and I hope that her blog attracts people looking to fill a need with a piece of jewelry that has a significance to them in bringing them closer to Jesus. My MIL is a very Godly Women and she is a guide in this world. She has brought me closer to the Lord and is teaching me how to access the Kingdom of God. I'm in a Topical Book/Bible Study with her and a few friends. We are reading the book..."When Heaven Invades Earth" A Practical Guide to a Life of Miracles. This book is the kind of book that tweeks my mind. There are thoughts and ideas in this book that open up the mind's eye and cause you to see The Kingdom as accessible to all who know how to access it.

Here is a sentence from this book...
"The more we live as citizens of heaven, the more heaven's activities infect our lifestyles". p.59

"Faith is the mirror of the heart that reflects the realities of His world into ours". p.48

"Jesus told Nicodemus that he'd have to be born again to see the Kingdom. John 3:3
That which is unseen can be realized only through repentance. It was as though He said, " If you don't change the way you perceive things, you'll live you whole life thinking that what you see in the natural is the superior reality. Without changing the way you think you'll never see the world that is right in from of you. It's My world, and it fulfills every dream you've ever had. And I brought it with me." All that He did in life and ministry, He did by drawing from that superior reality." p. 38

That is a glimpse into my vibrantly highlighted book. My MIL is an inspiration and I thank God for how she is teaching me tools to guide my life closer to the LORD!

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas

We are watching White Christmas for the I don't knowith time.

Miss D refers to the movie as "Sisters" or "Mama's Songs".

I can't believe that today is the 14th!

Christmas is coming and I think I'm getting fat! This month has been a bad one. I have felt domestic... making cookies, fudge, Holiday Nog...

January is going to be the month that I tackle the last 10!

I hope it doesn't get to be more than 10!!! Come'on self-control.... step up to the plate.

choices.

I'm upstairs and Miss D is down stairs yelling "poo poo". She is watching Charlotte's Web and I don't think that she can tear herself away. Miss a bit of the movie and poo in my diaper... or get her little self upstairs to sit on the toilet. The result of her choice hangs in the balance. I keep telling her to come upstairs to the bathroom. But it is quite down there... I just peeked. She is standing at the bottom of the stairs still watching the movie. Still nothing. I bet if I went down to pick her up she would be relieved. Ahhhh, someone to make the clean break and make the choice for me. She hasn't gone today yet... so I know that if she doesn't... the past behavior says that she won't have a very good sleep tonight unless "it" comes out. And when I say "it" I mean something that NEVER looks like it could have been inside a two year old and she was still able to be walking around. I'm going to go and get her. I know for my piece of mind... I would like "it" out of her. More room for dinner right!

(too late.... in the diaper it is!)

at least he had a toilet!

Man freed after 100 hours trapped in a lavatory
Mon Dec 10, 2007 12:39pm EST

LONDON (Reuters) - A retired Scottish school teacher was recovering on Monday after spending nearly four days trapped inside a men's toilet with no food or mobile phone.
David Leggat was locked inside the bathroom at a lawn bowling club near the Scottish city of Aberdeen after the door jammed and the handle on the outside fell off.
The 55-year-old kept warm by dipping his feet in hot water but only managed to get about three hours' sleep a night in the freezing temperatures, the local Evening Express newspaper reported.
He was rescued when the cleaner at the club, which is little used in winter, turned up to collect her cleaning equipment.
Leggat said a survival course he had once done had helped him endure his captivity. The cleaning lady said he looked shaken and grey when he emerged. Leggat was stoical.
"At least there was a toilet to use," he said. "The only thing I regret is not getting trapped behind the bar."

steak...smooth as butter.

Miss D and I along with my dad's family went to Ruth's Chris Steak House tonight. We just went there for Mr. D's Bday a few weeks ago. We were treated again because my dad's sister is in town from St. John. My cousin was there who I haven't seen in a while also. It was a great evening and a great dinner. Really people does it get any better. Petite Filet med-medium well ( and they are that good to be able to meet the pink/red ratio that I require) perfect as always. Steak along with a side Cesar salad...split of course with my best co. Also, a side of an array of things.... Creamed Spinach Au Gratin (with sharp cheddar), Lightly Garlic Mashed Potatos, Asparagus aka "Gus", Julienne French Fries. Miss D was loving it . She is such a meat and potato kinda girl. She even got a scoop of "cream" after. We had great service as always and great wine. I asked for a holiday fun cocktail and he recommended a Mojito... not exactly a wintery kinda drink in my book... but tasty all the same. And to follow up a great dinner was a Cream Brulee with Fresh Berries. Yumm-o. I can't recommend this place enough. It is always wonderful. I'm not much of a steak person. I can't stand prime rib or most steaks... the fat and the veins and stuff just puts me over the edge. But at RC's the light is dimmed, so you really can't see to much detail of what you are eating and the fact that the steak comes out on a 500' plate sizzling with butter really makes it ok with me. Also, I measure how good a steak is by how many bites I have to spit out. If there is something that just isn't right with the bite... gristle or something. My teeth and tongue have heightened radar when it comes to steak consistency. I can say that out of the many times that I have been to RC's... I have only once had a cut of steak that wasn't good and I had only 4-5 spit out bites that time. The rest of the visits I never spit out a tasty morsel. So here's to Ruth's Chris Steak House and to many more dinners there.

So here is a touch of the Christmas spice up here in the country. We decorate our tree the same every year. It has been that way since we got married. Green, Red and White. We have had the same lights since we got married. We were married in the fall and when Christmas came around we didn't have anything to decorate with. Mr. D came into the marriage with a box of his childhood ornaments and that was it. So we headed out for a Christmas decoration buying binge. That was year number one and since then I have slowly added a few decorations each year. They last two years though I wasn't to into decorating. I had the mindset that whatever I get out of the box is going to have to go back in after Christmas is over. Two years ago I was very prego with Miss D and last year I was still feeling nausea from being pregnant with Hazel. So this year I went all out. Lights up the stairs, in the nook and in the entryway. None outside though... I'm not that brave with the ladder. Mr. D didn't grow up putting up Christmas lights on the house and my family only did it a few times.... so it isn't really a must for me. My little tot is doing well. She is talking SO well and recalling things from days before. She is associating things with other things... like Grammy's house and fruit snacks, Grandma and Grandpa's house with their golf cart. When she gets dropped off there she will declare "momma church" or "momma doctor" those are the only places that she thinks I ever go without her. Today she was at the golf house with my parents and they went for a ride in the golf cart and saw a tree that had fallen down. When I got back from BSF she told me in the saddest most tradgic voice.."tree fall down... papa fixed it". Tonight in the bath she was still talking about it. She is surely approaching two years old. She has lost her baby fat face and she has a huge tummy and skinny little legs. Her hair is getting long also. The other day I put it up in ponytails with half her hair and then I braided them. She was a pint-sized blond version of Pippy Longstocking...(one of my favs as a child)
Pippy Longstocking is coming into your world
A frekled face red-head girl.....
that's all I remember.
Have you ever gone back and watched the favorite movies of your youth?
Neverending Story.....so not as cool as I remember. But the princess at the end of the movie was everything that I remembered. Here is a little insite into my youth. I cried at the end of that movie when I watched it so long ago... because I can remember wanting to be that princess so bad. I wanted to wear that crown she wore and her dress was so pretty.
There was this cartoon movie that I also loved... these dolls or something would go through the mirror and then be in a different world or something.... a friend and I watched that a few years ago when we saw it in the video store... lame! Just did a google search for "80's through a mirror cartoon"... and I found the title.
I heard that The Flight of the Navigator is still good. I will have to watch that one again. The Secret of Nihm.......I wonder how dark and spooky that one is now that I'm an adult.
Wow... Christmas decor to movies of my childhood.
Now that is a random blog entry.

I got problems

I think that my brain is going down the toilet! I have been having a MAJOR problem lately with "sometimers"! I left my camera at my Bro's house after TurkeyDay. Well I got the package today in the mail (the package folded perfectly...my S.I.L is the wrapping queen) well I came inside to put my memory card back in and I CAN'T FIND IT! You don't even want to see the condition that my office is in... along with my closet(the last place I saw it). I just tore everything in a huff off my desk and out of the drawers and dumped it on the floor. I wouldn't even take a picture of this mess if I could! I CAN'T FIND IT!!!!!!!!! I have no idea where it could be! AGGGGGGGH! Serenity now... Serenity NOW! I needed a serious vent and Mr. D is outside with a friend working on pulling the engine out of a truck... so I turn to my loyal readers! Thanks for listening. My blood pressure is a little lower and I think I better go clean up my mess before Mr. D comes in and sees the trace of the tornado that just blew through our house!
