We are settled in and happy to be blooming where we are planted right now.

Magazine Page Wreath

I took this idea and this idea and tweeked a little and made this wreath. I used a pizza box and cut out the square from then covered it with magazine pages as a base. I spray painted it black but I didn't like how the black showed through. So the color variation in the magazine pages was better as a background. Then over MANY nights I made these magazine page rolled up things. It took FOREVER... But I love the way it turned out!

Bermuda Grass Wreath

Bermuda Grass is slowly taking over our yard and it sends out these crazy long shoots. They are creeping out even onto our driveway. I pulled on one and it uprooted really easy. I kept walking around and pulling up long stands of this grass. Soon I had a whole hand full. Then I remembered Nester's "You made a wreath out of WHAT?" and thought I bet I can make a wreath out of this grass... so I did.

My little guy was all over the place today while daddy was washing the truck. Notice in the lower right corner.. he has just crawled under the truck. He also had no reserves about playing with his face in the nozzle from the sprayer of tyhe hose. At one point he was laying on him tummy drinking out of it. He even was so quick to pick up a dried worm and JUST ABOUT get it into his mouth as I was leaping to him and grabbing it out of his hand. I have to say that having a BOY is very different than having a girl. He was soaked head to toe when we brought him in the house and he would barely sit still long enough for me to scrub him in the bath. This little guy is going to keep me on my toes.

We were blessed to share Easter with friends on the lake today. We shared lunch, a game and great fellowship. We met a new family towards the end and had a wonderful time. It was a wonderful day. We are so thankful Jesus died on the cross so we can live. And what a wonderful life it is!

Happy 9 Months my snaggle tooth boy.
You are just learning to wave and today you pulled yourself up on the bottom stair. You have 3 teeth and another on the way. I think that you will have blue eyes but the jury is still out on that one. You love your daddy and your sister. You love to BITE! You can crawl so fast..... you remind me of a bulldog when you crawl because you turn you hands inward. You are such a sweet little boy and you light up everyone's face that looks at you. You are the light of your BSF class and all the ladies gush over you. You are smothered in kisses daily and love to give kisses back. I think you will have curly hair. You had your first try of cornbread muffin tonight and you devoured it. You also tried hard boiled egg yolk and seemed to enjoy it. You go into a panic when you see me making your bottle and you love your blanket. You have started to sleep on your side now and you also love to play peek-a-boo. You love to take a bath in my big tub. You are my big boy and I don't know where the last 9 months have gone. You are growing SO FAST!

He likes to eat Avacado, Rice Cereal and Bananas... (that is all I have introduced him too and he is starting to get pushy while the rest of us are eating)... Like I said he likes to eat!

LEMON SUPREME CAKE BITES

Christmas Dessert Recipe

Delicious Cake Bites
Makes 40-50
Cake Bites

Recipe by Kathy Oaks and adapted by ME into LEMON SUPREME CAKE BITES

1 devil's food cake mix (substitute Lemon Supreme Cake Mix)

3 eggs

1 1/4 cups water

1/2 cup oil

1/4 cup butter(softened)

6 ounces cream cheese (softened)

2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

Milk, enough to make a good frosting (Substitute with a little bit of Lemon Juice and milk)

Dipping Chocolate
6 Cups Semi Sweet Chips
3T Shortening.

Melt together in a double boiler then remove from heat but keep the melted chocolate over the warm water to keep it warm while dipping.

Once dipped put the Chocolate cake balls on wax paper and let harden over night. They are DELISH! They taste like Hostess Chocolate doughnuts but more moist!

Make cake according to directions on box and bake as directed. While baking mix together butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk to make a frosting. When cake is done dump immediately into a large bowl with the cream cheese frosting (or store bought frosting) and mix it all together while still hot (it will be a little mushy). Refrigerate overnight. Roll into balls and dip in melted dipping chocolate. If balls are sticky I put them in freezer bags and flash freeze them until I'm ready to dip. They will freeze beautifully for months before they are dipped, just let them thaw for about 5 minutes before dipping to prevent cracking. Once cake bites are dipped do not refrigerate or freeze, just eat them!

*You can also use cream cheese frosting that you buy at the store.

**German chocolate cake mix mixed with German chocolate frosting and dipped in milk chocolate is also very tasty.

I didn't dip the lemon cake bites in chocolate ( but I'm betting that they would be crazy good dipped in White Chocolate)....as you may have noticed in the picture above. I made a glaze and put it into a ziplock bag and cut a tiny hole in the corner of the bag and piped the glaze over the cake bites.

GLAZE

powdered sugar

teeny tiny amount of milk

teeny tiny amount of lemon juice

keep adding the powdered sugar and the teeny amounts of milk and lemon juice until you get the desired consistency. It needs to be really thick or it will run down the sides and not be firm enough to set up and be pretty.

Also another hint to shaping the balls.... wash your hands numerous times through out the process because I found that clean hands made better balls.

That night Mary's baby was born. She washed him and put him in the clothes she had brought. Joseph made a bed for him in a manger, full of hay. Mary laid him gently in it. He was a beautiful perfect baby boy and she named him Jesus. Just like the angel had told her to.

I love to hear you sing. Now on to our fun for today. Do you like pink? I thought you did. Well I got you special present for your room that is pink. They usually hang on people's front door or on the window's outside for decoration at Christmas time. I dropped it off at the doorstep... run and see if you can find it.

But wait. Before you find me. I have to tell you more of the story...Do you remember what part of the story we left off at from yesterday?

So Mary and Joseph became husband and wife. They had to go register for their taxes. Back then they did not have cars. So Mary and Joseph loaded all their stuff up and rode a donkey into town. They took food with them and clothes for the baby. The long journey lasted days and they walked most of the way. When they reached Bethlehem it was full of people and Mary and Joseph could not find anywhere to sleep.

I've seen her in Heaven and she can't wait until you get here so she can play with you. Ohhhh... and God told me to tell you He loves you SO VERY MUCH and he is so excited that you asked Jesus to be in your heart the other night at church.

Last night I peeked out of my pretty red box and saw that you had a bag of candy that you got from a birthday party that you went to yesterday. I was having a hard time deciding if I wanted to have some of your candy but I thought that I should ask you first. I thought that I would pick a piece of candy out for you and let's share it after your nap today. I'm hiding right now and I need you to come and find me... and I’m holding the treat and I kept it safe for you all night. I wanted to eat it so bad but I was PATIENT and waited for you to wake up. Here is a clue about where I'm hiding. Your Grammy bought you some new cereal last night and so where does your mommy keep the cereal? Did you guess... you better go and find me.....but wait....Before you come to find me let me continue with our story...

Mary was nervous about being a mom but she trusted in God. She was going to get married to a man named Joseph. He was a carpenter, that means he built tables and chairs out of wood. She told him about seeing the angel Gabriel and what he told her about the baby in her belly. Joseph was confused. Then he had a dream when he was sleeping one night. In his dream God told him that what Mary was saying was the truth. So Joseph trusted God that he should have Mary be his wife and be Jesus' daddy here on earth.

Now I'm going to go and hide Angie in her cute red box in the pantry next to the Oh's (She likes this cereal cause it doesn't get mushy... this girl LOVES herself a crunch)

I'm also going to pick out a piece of candy and put it in the box too.....

Meet Angie the Angel

I'm tweeking it a bit. We are going with an Angel that I named Angie....this is where her story begins.

Hi Miss D my name is Angie. My name means messenger of God. I wanted to come and visit you to help prepare you for Jesus' Birthday! He loves you and knows that you have been a good girl this year and he can't wait to celebrate with you with presents on Christmas Day. The reason I came was to remind you the true meaning of Christmas – the birth of Jesus. So everyday I am going to tell you a little bit more of the story of Jesus. You get to play with me all day long and then at night you have to put me in my little red box. At night I get a little silly and I will do fun things all over your house. I might even leave you some gifts or candy. It will be such fun for you to find me every morning. It is kind of like hide-n-seek. And I KNOW YOU LOVE hide-n-seek.

Oh I almost forgot...let's begin the story...Once upon a time, a long, long time ago there was a girl named Mary. God loved her very much. He sent an angel to visit her. The angels name was Gabriel. She was unsure at first but then Gabriel said not to be afraid because He was sent from God. Then he told her she had a baby in her belly that she was supposed to name Jesus.

I used bits and pieces of Infarrantly Creative's awesome letter to her son. Like I said above..... I just tweeked it a little.

Miss D was super excited this morning and had a great time with Angie today.

I had to go to Michaels to buy more Mod Podge and some of the resin and also some paper and some foam brushes.I also didn't have a circle cutter... so I was hoping that I could work that one out later. I ended up finding a bowl that matched the circle of the plate and using that as my guide. I didn't have any way to make sure if was centered so I just eyeballed it. Then I went out to the garage and found an exacto-knife of the hubby's and tracing around the bowl tuned upside down on his work bench. It was nice and sharp and cut greatly! But hey if I would have had that all on hand this wouldn't have been such a big start up cost. I think that I'm into the thing about $15.00. But there is SO much resin and glue left that over the next say 10 plates I do my cost will be hugely reduced! But it was a super easy project. I got a little crazy with the Mod Podge and it dried a little up on the plate so I'm hoping that I can go back and clean that up a little. I'm a novice you know! Also I could have used a little more resin. But I have NEVER used the stuff before and she wasn't super detailed about the amount of resin to use. I just went for it. Cause that's the kinda girl I am. I gotta do it so I can do it better the next time. I'm for sure going to head to Goodwill and try and find some more plates to do this with. Now all we need is our TREE~!

We will be heading to TN for Turkey this year. This will be the 2nd year that Mr. D will be away from our home town for Thanksgiving. He was in TX last year for work. Mr. D has an Aunt that lives in TN so we will be leaving on Wednesday of next week to head out to spend the holiday with her and her family. Most of whom I haven't met. Miss D is looking forward to seeing Aunt Judy again. Last time we saw her Miss D was around 18 months. Aunt Judy gave Miss D a sweet little purple bunny when she was here and we named it Bunny Judy. That little bunny has been a favorite of Miss D and still gets a night or two here and there in bed with her.

I decorated early cause I didn't want to have to do it when we get home from TN.... plus it will be just our little family of 4 over Christmas and I wanted to enjoy my decor as long as possible. This will also be the 1st time that we wake up and actually stay at out own house for Christmas instead of waking up early and doing presents then taking off to a marathon day. Don't get me wrong now.... all y'all that are reading this back home. I would MUCH rather have a marathon day and hug all your necks than not. But I do have to say that I'm looking forward to the quiet day that we will have as a family. Quiet has been the theme around here for the last few months. It is as if we have entered into a season of rest.

This verse was in my BSF lesson last week and it was my Rhema Word from the Lord as I was reading it. I do feel like we are here in this new town and are making friends... slowly but surely. I'm trying not to rush making friends.. but I do need to start to make more of an effort. It is hard though because I've never really had to do it. Living within a 40 mile radius my whole life I really had a small bubble. Now I'm having to break out and make friends in a place 2500 miles from my bubble. I'm having fun with my little Miss D and Mr. D not having a job yet we are enjoying time as a family too. God has CONTINUED to completely provide for us through unemployment checks that come EVERY week. They aren't much but we are able to live off of them. Thanks be to GOD for His provisions. We are getting rest and enjoying this season as much as we can... because we do know that There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven....

This is Miss D and her "daughter" Annie Sloody. They got to go for a ride with Mr. D today while he went to gather supplies for his Boar hunting trip this weekend. She didn't want to go with him... she likes to "stay with mommy", but you see I told her that Annie Sloody really needed to get out of the house and see the town that we lived in. So Miss D agreed to go with her out with Daddy. Annie had to get dressed of course. So we went into Miss D's room to see what would fit. This is what we came up with. Isn't she cute. So off they went. Annie and Miss D in the backseat of Daddy's truck to go and run errands.

We had our 1st non-family members visit from our home state last week. We had a blast with them. We pretty much hung around the house the whole time. We stayed up late and enjoyed conversation and company. We played with my camera taking pictures and cooking yummy dinners. I was at Costco before they came and Miss D begged me to buy ribs. So we enjoyed those after cooking them ALL day. I went out and hit a few garage sales one morning... but couldn't get K up to join me. They were pretty much stuck on west coast time. No biggy... all in all we had a great time. It went by WAY to fast. They had a hairy travel day getting out here with their flight delayed and missing their connection. But they made it here the same day they were suppose to with out having to stay the night in the airport waiting for an early morning flight. Thank YOU JESUS!!

We miss them already but are looking forward to another visitor (my MIL) in December for a week. Good times.

I'm looking forward to getting my Christmas decor out. I can't believe that it is November already. Baby D is doing so well. He is sleeping 14 hours at night. I wake him up to feed him before we head to bed but then he sleeps right on through the night and has been waking around 8am ish. Sometimes he will wake up and talk for a while and then fall back asleep until 10am. He has such BIG legs and is laughing and loving toys right now. The other night I was changing his diaper and he was playing with a toy and he dropped it. He cried like it was the end of the world. I picked up the toy and gave it back to him and he quit crying. Miss D wasn't into toys like he is. He plays with them like he wants to destroy them. Such a boy. We are really enjoying him. He is SUCH a sweet boy. He is so easy to make smile too. He is such a blessing.

Heater problem solved by Mr. Handy himself

After we moved in and Mr. D fired up the heater to make sure it worked... we knew we weren't going to need the heater for a while but he wanted to make sure that when we did it wouldn't need any fixing. Well as he fired it up he heard a thunk like something was lodged in the fan. He turned it off noting that he would need to take a look at that sometime soon. Fast forward 2 months and we need to get the heat turned on. It was down to a cool 67 in the house and we needed to kick it up a few degrees. Remembering that he needed to take apart the heater to see what the problem was he headed up to the attic. I fetched him the tools that he called out to me that he needed from the garage and he was at work. A few moments go by as I hear him upstairs then I hear a chuckle. He calls to me that he has found the problem. As you will see below...

Problem solved.

We celebrated Mr. D's Birthday a few weeks ago. His parents were out here for a week and were able to share his birthday with him. We went out to a local BBQ place. Miss D had a corn dog. Bad choice for her. That girl really wants meat. Steak, Pork or Chicken. She is a meat eating kinda girl. We had a great time with his parents here. They just missed Gary Oates at our church though. He was here over this last weekend. We had their intern stay here at our house so she didn't have to drive an hour home and then come back to church on Sunday. She was from London and has been in the states for 6 years. Miss D loved the way that she talked. I got to go to the conference on Friday night BY MYSELF. It started at 7pm and so I fed Baby D and he went to bed and I took off. It was so great to be able to concentrate on listening without having to bounce a baby I am trying to keep quiet. Mr. D went on Saturday night and I stayed home with the kiddos. It was a great conference.

This was a few weeks ago. I don't put a blanket on him anymore after he started to scoop and turn around in bed. Now he gets jammies and a fleece sleep sack. He was grunting around in bed and this is what I went in to find. You may remember this post. What is it with my kids and sticking their arms and legs out through the crib slats???

Isn't my little Miss D such a girl... this is what she wanted to wear today. Her easter dress from this last year. After her bath I did her hair up in a ponytail and then braided it into a bun. She looked so pretty. All dolled up and no where to go. We did however go to Old Navy to spend a gift certificate from doing some flowers for a wedding over the summer. I have been saving it. I'm so glad I did because I was in serious need of clothes. I have about 2 pairs of pants that fit me and I was so over them. So after spending some time at oldnavyweekly I scored a 20% off coupon and added with their up to 50% off womens items I think did pretty well. I surely gave the girl working in the dressing rooms work to keep her busy until closing cause of the mounds of clothes that I tried on trying to find anything that fit me. Post pregnancy body SUCKS. But everytime I think of my little baby boy and how I adore him...It is worth it. If only nursing made me lose weight... well it doesn't. And it didn't with Miss D either! Ugggh. O well... here is to the in between clothes that I just got today. I will love you only as long as I have too... And here is to the huge stack of jeans I miss so much... See you as soon as I can. But I'm not holding my breath until then.

I got to give it to my little guy. He has been trying for about a month to get that thumb in his mouth. Yesterday it happened for him. All day today he has had it in his mouth and he gets this little look on his face like he is saying...."Yah I did it".... "I'm cool". He is in love with his little thumb and it is so cute. I'm so happy for him.

Miss D could watch these over and over!

It was Mr. D's Birthday a few days ago and his parents came out for a visit. The 2 guys headed to Virginia for the Nascar race... yes I was jealous I couldn't go... but I got over it. I'm waiting for Bristol, TN.

Mr. D's Father had an in with M&M Mars Candy Company. He was able to get a sweet package deal for FREE that included 4 tickets to the Race. Parking pass. Meet and Greet with Kyle Busch. Pit Tour. Box seats with lunch and dinner served. Meet Joe Gibbs. Try on his super bowl ring. Chat with JD Gibbs down in the pits (cause they had already met). Basically awesomeness in general.

They had a great time.

This morning in one silly story..............

Miss D walks in to the kitchen with two foam balls under her shirt.

I ask what she is doing?

She tells me those are babies under her shirt.

One is Gavin and one is Julia.

She takes the foam balls out from under her shirt to tell me the red one is Julia and the Blue one is Gavin.

She put them back under her shirt.

She then goes to get a pencil and comes back to tell me that the pencil is what she is using to keep the Octagons away.

Yes Octagons.

She then goes and puts the "babies" in bed.

ie... taking the foam ball "babies" and putting them on the bottom of the stairs.

She then is on the look out for "Octagons".

She deems the downstairs baby placement as unsafe and takes the "babies" to the top of the stairs where they will be safe.

Game over... eggo is ready to eat.

(Gavin and Julia are my brothers twins who are due to be born in a few weeks)

This is Miss D's new friend Miss M... They are 1 month apart. Miss M took Miss D by the hand and led her to class at church on our 1st day. It was so cute. When I dropped Miss D off at class this last Sunday Miss M called to her and said "over here... there is a seat right here" and she patted the chair right next to her as they were having a snack and coloring. So Sweet!

Well actually I found it...

We were talking last night over pizza that we need to get a bike for Miss D. At our previous house there wasn't anywhere for her to ride. If you had been to that house you would understand why. We could have sent her down the hill and said "have a good one" but we didn't and I'm sure someday she will thank us. I guess we could have got her one and sent her next door to ride circles around their house (they paved with sidewalks around their house for their kids to ride... but we didn't. I guess we are lame). So she is a little delayed in learning how to pedal. I hit Craigslist last night and typed in "girl bike" and what did I find??? See above. And do you see that it has a seat for her BABY! Does it get any better? She doesn't think so. Also it came with a helmet. Something I didn't even think of. I wonder how we all survived growing up without one? Yeah Right. SO I put Baby D down for bed and we headed outside to teach our girl how to ride. We discovered that we have never said "pedal" so many times in our life before yesterday. Also Mr. D kept getting frustrated with her because she couldn't get her left foot to continue with the circle it needed to make....as did I. So frustrating. She kept using the brake and stopping.

My night last night and my morning.....

Put Baby D to bed at 8ish...

Stayed up way to late with Mr. D.

Woke Baby D up to feed him at 11:30pm.

Put Baby D back to bed.

Woke up at 6:30am.

WHAT!!!???

I woke up and looked at the clock...rubbed my eyes thinking I had not read it right but there was daylight to confirm what I saw.

Got up to a grunting Baby D (this little guy would rather grunt then cry).

Fed Baby D and he wanted to sleep more.

WHAT!!!???

Put Baby D back to bed and Got Miss D snuggled back in bed with us.

Woke up again at 9:30am!

Morning "Walk".

We attempted a morning walk today.
What we learned on our morning walk.

~Go Earlier... if I don't want to hear Miss D complain the whole time how hot she is.

~Attempt less distance...so Miss D can build up her stamina for walking in the heat. (we did only make it about 4 houses before turning around)

~Take Baby D when he isn't that close to wanting to sleep cause he started to cry about half way during the walk.

~Take Baby D with just a diaper on.

~Take an extra blanket to cover where the sun gets in through the stroller.

~Make Miss D wear Flip Flops so her feet don't get sweaty.

Hmmm.... I should just take a walk without them. That would be a whole heck of alot easier.

But where is the fun in that??
